How to Resolve Quickbooks Payroll errors: “The file you specified cannot be opened” and “The file exists”

Solution 1. You can run as an administrator

1.            First, click & unzip the windows from start menu.

2.            Next, you can enter “QuickBooks” into the search option.

4.            Click on right of the QuickBooks version and year you wish to open.

5.            Click & select run as administrator.

6.            You can run the payroll update.

7.            When it finishes, quit QuickBooks and open it normally (not running as admin).

Solution 2: You can update windows permissions

1.            First, click & unzip the windows from start menu.

2.            Enter “File Explorer” into the search option and unzip File Explorer.

3.            You can now find your QuickBooks program file. It will look like this:

Processor Type File Path for QBW32.EXE

32-bit    C:\program files\intuit\quickbooks (year)

64-bit    C:\program files x86\intuit\quickbooks (year)

4.            Click on right of your QuickBooks program (QBW32.EXE) file and then select Properties.

5.            Click & select security and then edit.

6.            Now, click & select Add in the window, type in “Everyone” and then press OK.

7.            After that, select the checkbox for Full control in security window and then press OK.

8.            You can select add with the help of window, then enter in “Users” and then press OK.

9.            Click & select the checkbox for Full control and then press OK.

10.          Once you are good to go, click & select Apply and then press OK to close your settings.
