1. First, quit QBPOSShell task.

a. Next, you need to press Ctrl + Alt + Delete, click & select Task Manager.

b. Click & select Processes tab, then you can highlight QBPOS Shell.

c. After that, Choose End Task.

2. You are required to show hidden folders from the drive.

a. Now, open windows from start menu button.

b. You need to enter “file explorer” in search option, then select the File Explorer icon.

c. Open view tab from the icon, then you can select the Hidden items checkbox.

3. You can rename the QBPOS Shell folder

a. You are required to browse C Drive:\Users\{User logged on}\AppData\Local\Intuit.

b. Click & open the (QBPOSshell.exe_URL…) folder.

c. Click on right of user.config file, then select Rename.

d. You can rename the file to “user.configold”.

e. Shut down the window, then you need to re-open QuickBooks Desktop Point of Sale.

Solution 2. You can create a new Windows admin in QuickBooks Desktop

1. First, you need to create a local user account

a. Click on Windows Start ⊞ button, then go to Settings ⚙.

b. Choose Accounts, then Family & other users (Other users)program.

c. If you want to add, then select Add someone else to this PC.

d. Click & select I don’t have this person’s sign-in information.

e. Now, you can select Add a user without a Microsoft account.

f. Type credentials, then select next.

2. You are required to change the local user account to admin

a. Click on Windows Start ⊞ button, and then go to Settings ⚙.

b. Choose Accounts, then Family & other users (Other users) program.

c. Click & select the username that you have created earlier, then Change account type.

d. Click & select Administrator in account type,  then press OK.

e. Log in as admin.

3. Now, you can open QuickBooks Desktop Point of Sale.
