HOW TO REMOVE ERROR -6177,0 WHEN YOU OPEN QUICKBOOK SOFTWARE

Step 1: You can update QuickBooks Desktop

In case, if you are not using, please make sure that QuickBooks is up to date.

Step 2: You can update your file location

If you want to keep your company file on a server machine, an external hard drive, or in the cloud, you may change its location. you will use these steps to move it to your local drive and back again to where it was.

If you want to move your company file

Note: Ideally, you may perform these steps on your server computer macvhine (the one that hosts your company files). If you are authorized with it , that’s OK. You can follow these steps on one of your workstations (a computer connected to your server that doesn’t host your company files).

Click & open the Windows Start menu on either your server computer machine or workstation.

Click & select Type “File Explorer” into the search and open the File Explorer.

Now Search and open your QuickBooks folder. You can also press F2 while QuickBooks is open to get the location.

You can find your company file, which will end with QBW. The look will be look like this: [company name].qbw.

You may also write down the drive name and location. You can put the file back here later on. Here’s an example: This image will show an example of a file path for your quickbooks file.

You can move your company file from this folder to your C: drive.  Now you can move the file, not the whole folder.

You can create a portable company file and restore it to your server machine.

You will find that your company file is now on a local drive. Now you will find that you can create a portable company file. This will be a compact version of your financial data.

You can open QuickBooks Software on your computer machine, if you want to move your company file to.

Click & select Open or you can restore an existing company.

You may browse for and  you may also open the company file that you have moved to your C: drive.

It is a time to create a portable company file. This will create a portable version of your company file that will help to reset your file location data.

Click & select the File menu and then select Quit QuickBooks. Then  you need to reopen QuickBooks.

Now Go to the File menu and then click & select Open or you can restore company file.

Click & select Restore a portable file and then click & select Next.

You can find and select the portable company file (QBM) that you have created. Then click & select Open and Next.

If you are looking to restore your file location, here we are. For the restore location, click & select the drive you originally moved your company file from. You can also wrote this down earlier.

Click & select Save. This will put your company file back on your network that you was using.

Clkick & select the File menu and then select Quit QuickBooks.

In case, if you still see Error -6177,0, move on to Step 3.

Step 3:  To Download and run File Doctor on your server machine

If you want to download and use File Doctor. It will help you to scan and clean up your company file. This also helps to refresh the location.

In case, if this process can resolve your issue, you have to be sure to back up your company file.

Still, if you are facing the same Quickbooks Error -6177,0, we will suggest you to move on Step 4.

Step 4: You may manually fix the file path

You can find your ND file

Click & open the File Explorer on your server computer and search for your QuickBooks folder.

You can find the file with your company name and ND at the end. The look of the file will be like this: [MyCompanyFileName].qbw.nd.

Click on the right of the ND file and then select Delete. No need to worry , this kond of process will not affect your accounting data.

You can configure the QuickBooks Database Server Manager.

In case, if you already not using, start downloading  and installing the QuickBooks Database Server Manager.

Click & Open the Windows Start menu on your server computer machine.

You can Type “Database” into the search and then QuickBooks Database Server Manager will open.

Click & select the QuickBooks folder that is holding your company files.

Click & Select Start Scan.

Once the scan finishes, click & select Close.

You need to set your folder permissions to share your company files with another computer.

Click & open QuickBooks on all of your computers. You will find everything is fixed.
