Make sure to consult your accounting professional before trying any of these options.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Option 1: Creating a General Journal Entry to write off the amount<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Accounts Receivable<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>First step requires creating the appropriate journal entry.\n<ul>\n<li>From the\u00a0menu of Company, choose the option of\u00a0<strong>Make General Journal Entries<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>In the\u00a0<strong>Make General Journal Entries window,<\/strong> change the date and fill in the entry number if necessary.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>For a customer with an over-payment<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Choose the\u00a0<strong>Account<\/strong>field and select\u00a0<strong>Accounts Receivable<\/strong>\u00a0from the dropdown list.<\/li>\n<li>Enter the amount under\u00a0<strong>Debit<\/strong>column, tab to the\u00a0<strong>Name<\/strong>\u00a0column and choose a\u00a0<strong>Customer Name<\/strong>\u00a0from the dropdown list.<\/li>\n<li>In the next column, choose the offset account and enter the amount under\u00a0<strong>Credit<\/strong>column. Close<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Option 2: Use Discounts to write off small amounts<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Create an account and item to use when writing off small amounts.\n<ol>\n<li>Creating a\u00a0<strong>Charge off Account<\/strong>.\n<ol>\n<li>From the\u00a0menu of <strong>Lists<\/strong>, choose\u00a0<strong>Chart of Accounts<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Choose the\u00a0<strong>Account<\/strong>button and choose\u00a0<strong>New<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Income,<\/strong>and then\u00a0<strong>Continue<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ol>\n<li>Then enter\u00a0<strong>Minor A\/R and A\/P Charge-Off<\/strong>in the\u00a0<strong>Account Name<\/strong>\u00a0field and choose\u00a0<strong>Save &amp; Close<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ol>\n<li>Creating a\u00a0<strong>Charge-off item<\/strong>.\n<ol>\n<li>From the\u00a0menu of <strong>Lists<\/strong>, choose\u00a0<strong>Item Lists<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Choose the\u00a0<strong>Item<\/strong>button and choose\u00a0<strong>New<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul>\n<li>Then <strong>choose<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>Other Charge<\/strong>as\u00a0<strong>Item Type<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0select\u00a0<strong>Continue<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ol>\n<li>Enter\u00a0<strong>Minor Charge-Off<\/strong>in the\u00a0<strong>Item Name\/Number<\/strong>\u00a0field.<\/li>\n<li>Kindly choose\u00a0<strong>Non-Taxable Sales<\/strong>in the\u00a0<strong>Tax Code<\/strong>\u00a0field.<\/li>\n<li>You will be required to choose\u00a0<strong>Minor A\/R and A\/P Charge-Off<\/strong>in the\u00a0<strong>Account<\/strong>\u00a0field.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul>\n<li>Choose\u00a0<strong>OK<\/strong>to save and create the item.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ol start=\"2\">\n<li><strong>Select the scenario that best describes the small amount that you want to clear.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Customer underpayment<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>From\u00a0the menu of <strong>Customers<\/strong>, select\u00a0<strong>Receive Payments<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Choose the name of the customer in\u00a0<strong>Receive<\/strong>From field.<\/li>\n<li>Then select the invoice that you want to write off the amount.<\/li>\n<li>After this you will b required to select\u00a0<strong>Discounts &amp; Credits.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Select the\u00a0<strong>Discount<\/strong>tab:\n<ol>\n<li>Enter the amount in\u00a0<strong>Amount of Discount<\/strong>field.<\/li>\n<li>Choose\u00a0<strong>Minor A\/R and A\/P Charge-Off<\/strong>in the\u00a0<strong>Discount Account<\/strong>\u00a0field.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul>\n<li>Choose\u00a0<strong>Done<\/strong>to close the\u00a0<strong>Discount and Credits<\/strong>\u00a0window.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ol>\n<li>Choose<strong>Save &amp; Close<\/strong>\u00a0to close the\u00a0<strong>Receive Payments<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Customer overpayment<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>From the\u00a0menu of <strong>Customers<\/strong>, choose\u00a0<strong>Create Invoices<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>After this you are required to choose the customer name in the\u00a0<strong>Customer Job<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Then choose\u00a0<strong>Minor Charge-Off<\/strong>in the Item field and enter the amount of over payment.<\/li>\n<li>Choose<strong> Apply Credits<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Choose the credit in the\u00a0<strong>Available Credits<\/strong>section (The amount of credit should match the amount of invoice).<\/li>\n<li>Choose\u00a0<strong>Done<\/strong>to close the\u00a0<strong>Apply Credits<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>After this you will be required choose\u00a0<strong>Save &amp; Close<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Vendor underpayment<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>From the\u00a0<strong>Vendors<\/strong>menu, choose<strong> Pay Bills<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Then choose the bill that has the balance that you need to write off.<\/li>\n<li>Choose\u00a0<strong>Set Discount<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Choose the\u00a0<strong>Discount<\/strong>tab\n<ol>\n<li>Firstly, enter the amount in the\u00a0<strong>Amount of Discount<\/strong>field.<\/li>\n<li>Then choose<strong> Minor A\/R and A\/P Charge-Off<\/strong>in the\u00a0<strong>Discount Account<\/strong>\u00a0field.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul>\n<li>Choose\u00a0<strong>Done <\/strong>to close\u00a0<strong>Discount &amp;
