Sales Tax Centre contains everything you need to handle sales tax in QuickBooks. Reports can be run for your sales tax liabilities, record or edit sales tax payments, and see your sales tax owed for different time periods.<\/p>\n

How to receive a sales tax liability report<\/p>\n

  1. Go to the\u00a0Taxes <\/strong><\/li>\n
  2. Select\u00a0View\u00a0Report<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    The report presents each tax agency, the taxable amount of sales, and the tax owed.<\/p>\n

    See all of your sales tax payments<\/p>\n

      \n
    1. Go to the\u00a0Taxes <\/strong><\/li>\n
    2. Under\u00a0Recent Sales Tax Payments, select\u00a0View All.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      Following the above steps will open a transaction report that lists all your sales tax payments. To further refine the report, you can adjust the date range or select\u00a0Customize.<\/p>\n

      How to manage sales tax payments<\/p>\n

      Record sales a tax payment<\/p>\n

      1. Go to the\u00a0Taxes<\/strong><\/li>\n
      2. From the\u00a0Sales Tax Owed<\/strong>list, select and highlight the tax agency you’re recording the payment for.<\/li>\n
      3. Select\u00a0Record Tax Payment<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
      4. From the\u00a0Bank Account<\/strong>dropdown, select the bank account you’re making the payment from.<\/li>\n
      5. Select the payment date and tax ending tax period ending dates from the dropdowns.<\/li>\n
      6. Enter the tax payment amount in the\u00a0Tax Paymen<\/strong>t field.<\/li>\n
      7. When you’re ready, select\u00a0Record Tax Payment<\/strong>. If you need to print a check for the payment, check the\u00a0Print a Check\u00a0<\/strong>checkbox and then select\u00a0Record Payment and Print Check<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        Adjust a sales tax payment<\/p>\n

        If you are needed to make an adjustment, select and check the\u00a0Make Adjustment<\/strong>\u00a0box when you record a sales tax payment. You can use this when you need to\u00a0decrease or increase the amount of Sales Tax owed for things like credits, discounts, fines, interest, penalties, and corrections for rounding errors.<\/p>\n

        Enter the reason adjustment and its amount. You are allowed to enter both positive and negative amount.<\/p>\n

        After following the above steps select an account to track the adjustment.\u00a0Don’t select the Sales Tax Payable account. Instead, use the following:<\/p>\n
