Under&nbsp;<strong>Employees<\/strong>, select&nbsp;<strong>My Payroll Service<\/strong>, and then&nbsp;<strong>Send Usage Data<\/strong>&nbsp;or<\/li><li>Under&nbsp;<strong>Employees<\/strong>&nbsp;menu, click &amp; select&nbsp;<strong>Send Payroll Data<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Now you need to check, if the send is successful<\/strong>, attempt to get payroll updates again. In case, if you still get the PS038 message, proceed to Step 2.\u00a0If the send is not successful,\u00a0you need to contact the payroll service for support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>STEP 2<\/strong> : <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You may identify if you have paychecks stuck as online to send. You do not need to edit or delete the stuck paychecks. Simply you need to take note of the &#8220;<strong>Number of matches<\/strong>&#8221; on the bottom right of the&nbsp;<strong>Find&nbsp;<\/strong>window and you should make sure to make note of the oldest stuck and newest stuck checks for reference later.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To determine the stuck paychecks:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" type=\"1\"><li>Click &amp; select\u00a0<strong>Edit<\/strong>, and then\u00a0<strong>Find<\/strong>.<\/li><li>Click &amp; select the\u00a0<strong>Advanced\u00a0<\/strong>tab.<\/li><li>In the\u00a0<strong>Choose Filter\u00a0<\/strong>section, Click &amp; select\u00a0<strong>Detail Level\u00a0<\/strong>from the\u00a0<strong>Filter\u00a0<\/strong>list.<\/li><li>Click &amp; select\u00a0<strong>Summary Only<\/strong>.<\/li><li>In the\u00a0<strong>Choose Filter<\/strong>\u00a0section, select\u00a0<strong>Online Status<\/strong>\u00a0from the <strong>Filter\u00a0<\/strong>list.<\/li><li>Click &amp; select Online to Send from the drop-down.<\/li><li>Then select\u00a0<strong>Find\u00a0<\/strong>to see the paycheck that hasn&#8217;t been sent to Intuit.<\/li><li>You may need to Run a verify data. \u00a0A Stuck paycheck should appear in the results.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>STEP 3<\/strong> : <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" type=\"1\"><li>You can create a backup of the QuickBooks Desktop company file.<\/li><li>You can also Run Verify data.<\/li><li>If the Verify Data shows stuck paychecks, then run a rebuild data. The rebuild should show that it fixed the paychecks.<\/li><li>If the rebuild isn&#8217;t able to remove the stuck paychecks, and\/or if you still receive the PS038 message when downloading payroll updates, proceed to the next section of this article. <\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Reasons the rebuild is not able to remove the stuck paychecks<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" type=\"1\"><li>The paychecks are beyond the oldest date for billing (these will not cause the PS038 message).<\/li><li>A Condense Data was performed on the QuickBooks Desktop file for dates that include the stuck paychecks.<\/li><li>An Accountant Copy is pending. Merge the Accountant&#8217;s changes, or cancel the Accountant&#8217;s Copy to proceed. Canceling the Accountant Copy will require a new one to be made if your accountant is still making changes.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>If PS038 still occurs after the rebuild : <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>STEP 1 : <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Depending on your payroll service:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Under&nbsp;<strong>Employees<\/strong>&nbsp;menu, select&nbsp;<strong>My Payroll Service<\/strong>, and then&nbsp;<strong>Send Usage Data<\/strong>&nbsp;or<\/li><li>Under&nbsp;<strong>Employees<\/strong>&nbsp;menu, select&nbsp;<strong>Send Payroll Data<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>If the send is successful<\/strong>, attempt to get payroll updates again. If you still get the PS038 message,&nbsp;proceed to Step 2.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>STEP 2 : <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" type=\"1\"><li>\u00a0<ol type=\"a\" start=\"1\"><li>Create a\u00a0backup\u00a0of the company file.<\/li><li>Select\u00a0<strong>Edit<\/strong>, and then\u00a0<strong>Find<\/strong>. Select the\u00a0<strong>Advanced<\/strong>\u00a0tab.<\/li><li>In the\u00a0<strong>Choose filter<\/strong>\u00a0section, select\u00a0<strong>Detail Level<\/strong>\u00a0from the\u00a0<strong>Filter<\/strong>\u00a0list. On the right, select\u00a0<strong>Summary only<\/strong>.<\/li><li>In the\u00a0<strong>Choose filter<\/strong>\u00a0section, select\u00a0<strong>Online Status<\/strong>\u00a0from the\u00a0<strong>Filter<\/strong>\u00a0list. Select\u00a0<strong>Online to Send<\/strong>.<\/li><li>Select the\u00a0<strong>Find\u00a0<\/strong>button to see the pay checks in QuickBooks Desktop that haven&#8217;t been sent to Intuit.<\/li><li>Record the details of the paycheck(s). (You can also create a Payroll Summary report for the date of the transaction.) Send to\u00a0<strong>Excel<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>Save<\/strong>.<\/li><\/ol><\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>STEP 3\u00a0<\/strong>: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" type=\"1\"><li>Start with the first check- in the list. Locate and open the paycheck.<\/li><li>Click &amp; select the\u00a0<strong>Paycheck Detail<\/strong>\u00a0button.<\/li><li>In the\u00a0<strong>Review Paycheck\u00a0<\/strong>window, in\u00a0the <strong>Earnings<\/strong>\u00a0section, add the same earnings item as the last earnings item in the list. (Example: If the last item in the list is Hourly Rate, add another earnings item named Hourly Rate in the list.)<\/li><li>You will see a <strong>Net Pay Locked\u00a0<\/strong>message will appear.\u00a0 Select\u00a0<strong>No<\/strong>\u00a0to close the message.<\/li><li>Click &amp; select in the\u00a0<strong>Rate<\/strong>\u00a0field of the new earnings item that you have added.<\/li><li>You need to confirm that the taxes and Net Pay did not change and select\u00a0<strong>OK<\/strong>\u00a0to save your changes.<\/li><li>If you receive\u00a0a <strong>Past Transaction\u00a0<\/strong>message, select\u00a0<strong>Yes<\/strong>.<\/li><li>Click &amp; select\u00a0<strong>Save &amp; Close<\/strong>\u00a0to close the paycheck.<\/li><li>Click &amp; select\u00a0<strong>Yes<\/strong>\u00a0to the\u00a0<strong>Recording Transaction\u00a0<\/strong>warning message.<\/li><li>Open the paycheck again.<\/li><li>Click &amp; select the\u00a0<strong>Paycheck Details<\/strong>\u00a0button.<\/li><li>Delete the earnings items that you have just added in the Earnings section.<br>(Always make sure that the Earnings section doesn&#8217;t have blank line items before considering deleting or recreating paychecks.)<\/li><li>Confirm the taxes and Net Pay didn&#8217;t change and select\u00a0<strong>OK<\/strong>, then\u00a0<strong>Save &amp; Close<\/strong>\u00a0to close the paycheck.<\/li><li>Repeat these steps for each of the paychecks in the results of the Online to Send status.\u00a0When complete, try sending Usage Data again.<br><\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Alternatively, you can delete the stuck paychecks and then re-create them. This may also require additional steps to re-reconcile your QuickBooks bank account.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You need to check that you are on the latest tax table. Under\u00a0<strong>Employees<\/strong>\u00a0menu, click &amp; select\u00a0<strong>Get Payroll Updates<\/strong>, and then select\u00a0<strong>Update<\/strong>. In case, if you can&#8217;t get the latest tax table: If you have another file you do payroll in, click &amp; open that file and try to get the payroll update. If successful, open your original file and try to get the Payroll Update again. If the Payroll Update completes, you will be able to create and send payroll, however this will not remove the PS038 message in the original file.
