Before we start it is very necessary for you to know that you should have a proper understanding of the concerned printer’s setup. It is important as printers are of different types and every printer has different troubleshooting step. If you are not aware of the troubleshooting or not much informed about the setup instructions then we recommend you to contact your IT personal of the company or the manufacturer support for that particular printer.

There are certain pre-checks before we start the printing troubleshooting. They are:

› First we need to make sure that out QuickBooks is fully up to date and is upgraded to the latest version.

› Then we will check the printer connection with the system and make sure it is properly connected.

› Next we will see the printer software, if it properly installed on your machine.

In the end if there is any particular error message regarding a particular software or hard then you are recommended to contact QuickBooks Technical Support for further assistance on the same.

Let us initially start with checking the printer.

› So to make sure that the printing issue is not only with QuickBooks we will print a document either using word or notepad.

› Go to Start icon on your desktop.

› Proceed ahead by choosing Microsoft Word.

› Create a random document and then click on File option on the top.

› Next continue further by clicking on the Print option there.

› Finally among all the printers choose the correct printer and click on Print.

If the print is successful then the issue is only local to QuickBooks. Follow the below information to see what needs to be done in such a scenario:

Solution 1:

Run the repair Tool. So in case you are not aware then there is a QuickBooks Print and PDF Repair Tool which is run to check that the printer is working properly along with QuickBooks. This majorly resolves most of the printer issues without much of an effort. After you are done running the repair tool try and print again. This should fix the issue.

If you need to know more about QuickBooks Print and PDF Repair Tool or want to run it on your machine then contact QuickBooks Technical Support to help you with the same.

Now that you have run the repair tool and still the issue persist let us check out what else can we do.

Solution 2:

Renaming the QBPrint.QBP file

So when the repair tool did not work what we will do next is renaming the QBPrint.QBP file.

We will start by locating the QBPrint.QBP file for the version of QuickBooks Desktop installed on our computer. Once we have the file on our screen then we will right click on QBPrint.QBP file and scroll down in options to click on Rename. Now rename the file with adding a word or a symbol which will help you in differentiating this file.

In order to locate the QBPrint.QBP file in Windows 10, 8.1, 8, 7 and Vista: Go to the location – C:\ProgramData\Intuit\QuickBooks 20xx Here 20xx is showing your version of QuickBooks.

In order to locate the QBPrint.QBP file in Server 2008 and Server 2012: Go to the location – C:\Program Data\Intuit\QuickBooks YEAR and C:\Users\**remote user**\AppData\Roaming\Intuit\ YEAR VERSION\TSPrinterSettings.

Now launch QuickBooks Desktop and navigate to the File option and further continue by selecting Printer Setup. Here you will proceed by choosing any transaction in the Form Name list. Finally click on OK. This procedure will help you in creating a new QBprint.qbp file. After you are done renaming the QBPrint.QBP file try and print again. This should fix the issue now.

Solution 3:

Now if that also does not work then we will check if the connected printer is the accurate one.

For this we will launch QuickBooks Desktop and go to the File option. Then navigate to Printer Setup and select the document you are looking to print. Now check the printer name if it matches the precise name of the printer you have connected to your machine. If it is not then you will need to do the proper setup inside your computer’s Printer Setup first. You may use the Help option to get more instructions about this particular setting.

We can also try to print using a different printer in the Printer Setup. Then navigate to Printer Setup and select the document you are looking to print. Now select a different printer. You may use the Help option to get more instructions about this particular setting.

You may also try and print a different document. If you are trying to print a complete set of documents then try and print a single document instead.

Try and print a similar kind of file from QuickBooks sample company files. If it works then contact QuickBooks Technical Support to know more about this.

In the end you may need to reinstall QuickBooks for your windows using a clean install. For this Contact QuickBooks Technical Support is there to assist you further.
